Carex testacea 'Prairie Fire' TM Orange Sedge
a/k/a Sedge, Sedge Grass, Japanese Sedge.
Zone 6 to 9.
Sun to part shade.
Mature foliage height 18 to 24 inches, clump forming evergreen.
Fine textured olive green foliage turns orange through cooler temperature. May self-seed but not aggressively. Performs best in moist rich, acidic soil with other water loving perennials and shrubs. 'Orange Sedge' is a cool-season grass. Cool-season grasses grow in spring before temperatures exceed 75 degrees Fahrenheit and in the fall when temperatures cool down. They generally maintain good color through the summer but will not grow much when it is hot.
Orange foliage will brighten those low lying, shady areas.
Ten (10) plants in quart containers per flat (or tray).
