Large 2-inch yellow flowers with a blood red eye, red pigment bleeds out onto the petals, becoming the dominant color in fall. Each flower has a slightly different pattern of yellow and red pigments. 'Route 66' is a verticillata type of Coreopsis, so it has green, threadleaf foliage with branched stems and an upright habit to about two feet tall.
'Route 66' grows in dry to medium moisture, most soil conditions with good drainage, including sandy or rocky. It is tolerant of humidity, heat and drought. Plants may be cut back hard in summer if foliage sprawls or becomes unkempt.
