Family: Brassicaceae
Aubrietia forms a low carpet of evergreen leaves, literally smothered by flowers for several weeks. After blooms, shearing keeps the plant looking tidy and should result in summer flowers. Aubrieta performs best when grown in a moist, well-drained medium with a slightly acidic pH of 5.5-6.5. Water them thoroughly and allow the soil to dry slightly between watering; moderate feeders. Relatively free of diseases and insects, watch for aphids in early spring.
Excellent as a groundcover (tolerates light foot traffic), on the border, in the rock garden, cascading over walls, for edging or in alpine containers. This tough perennial plant with vibrant flowers just keeps blooming!
