The National Garden Bureau has announced its 2023 Green Thumb Award Winners. Triumphing in the Perennials category is Astilbe 'Dark Side of the Moon', part of the Proven Winners Perennial collection. 

A flexible, fabulous, foliage perennial. Astilbe 'Dark Side of the Moon' has been one of the most talked about new perennials of the 2022-2023 season. The combination of dark foliage and rosy purple flowers create a long season of interest in the landscape. The near black foliage remains attractive all season and holds up in both full sun and full shade. Additional water is recommended if growing this plant in full sun, particularly in the south.
