If your climate is warm, nothing says summer better than lantana. Lantana is a showstopping cultivar that is content in the sunny garden or in containers. Butterflies love it and hummingbirds have even been known to investigate the show-stopping blossoms. It thrives in well-drained soil and even tolerates a bit of neglect. However, if given a sunny spot and ample water, it spreads quickly and blooms constantly. Lantana does best with light feeding, tending to produce more leaves than blooms if over-fed. Reliably hardy to 15F (-9.4C), gardeners in colder climates should treat it as an annual, or store its container in a cool garage or porch during the winter.
