Dramm introduces a watering app and new wand to work with GoogleGlass.
Wearable
technology is becoming more and more prevalent. Today, with the
introduction of WateringPro™ from Dramm, wearable tech will become the
trend in horticulture, as well.
Watering is one of the most important jobs in any nursery. It is also
one of the most difficult skills to learn. WateringPro is an app for
GoogleGlass designed to increase efficiency of hand watering while
training the user to water better.
Using the unique GoogleGlass camera, heads-up display, and our new
bluetooth-connected WateringPro Wand, the WateringPro App can not only
determine the amount of water needed by each plant, but can measure the
flow of the wand to meet each plant's specific needs.
Utilizing infra-red imaging, WateringPro can
see plant stress levels, indicating the need for watering. These levels
are visible to the user as varying colors from green to red, overlaid
on each plant. As the user moves to water stressed plants, the bluetooth
wand measures the flow to each plant and indicates the saturation of
each pot by altering the overlay color to blue. Overwatering will result
in a purple color overlay.
To begin watering, the employee just says "Ok Google, water." The bluetooth connected wand will begin immediately.
Other available commands are: "Ok Google, More water," "Less water," and "Stop."
As growers use the app, they will begin to learn how much water is needed by each plant.
For those employees slower to learn, the bluetooth wand has an
additional feature. Two electrodes in the grip of the wand can emit an
electronic shock from 0.000005 joules to 0.0005 joules. As the user
continually over or under-waters plants, the WateringPro Wand can give
them a little reminder.
Happy April Fools Day - Before we get reported to OSHA for worker abuse, Dramm is not making an App for GoogleGlass combined with a shock-wand.
