From the AHS -
Don't you just love this time of year? Hostas are
poking up all over the place, unfurling their leaves signaling the
fact that spring has finally arrived! The days are getting warmer
and longer allowing us to spend more time outside enjoying the
pleasure of nature. I always wonder just how much bigger my favorite
hostas are going to be this year compared to last year.
This May edition of the AHS eNewsletter features on the
cover the Green Bay gift plant, H. 'Golden Harmony' which
is absolutely gorgeous! Glenn Herold shares with us some great
information on Hosta longissima. Warren Pollock reminds us
to watch for Slugs and Foliar Nematodes and to document what we do.
He also shares with us a great article on "Blue Hostas: Why are they
blue? How to care for them" and also alerts us to the sad news of
the closing of Wade & Gatton Nurseries. Larry Tucker challenges
us to "Dare to be different in your hosta garden" sharing with us
some great ideas! The featured local society is the East Tennessee
Hosta Society, they have a lot of things going on there! Clyde
Crockett reviews another great hosta book for our home library. The
featured member from the Board of Directors is Elaine Cole, AHS
Treasurer. What beautiful landscaping she has! We'll see the return
of the AHGA Vender in July.

Newsletter Editors: feel free to forward to your local Hosta Society's email list, they need not be a member of the AHS to enjoy the eNewsletter.
It's almost AHS Convention time, hopefully you made your reservations before it sold out! I'll see you there.
