Chrysanthemum (aka Dendranthema) ‘Sheffield Pink’ is a herbaceous perennial. Gorgeous late Fall in full bloom. Masses of pink daisy like flowers atop green leaves creates a magnificent last hurrah in any garden. An antique variety, Sheffield Pink is both vigorous and hardy even in the South. Chrysanthemum ‘Sheffield Pink’ prefers dry to moist, well-drained soil. It will tolerate heat and drought. Useful in mass plantings, rock gardens, mixed beds and containers. Suitable for cut flowers and will attract butterflies. Northern zones may need to mulch late Fall after flowering. Mature height is 18”-24”, spread 30”-36”.
Dendranthema 'Sheffield Pink' is a beautiful, long-blooming chrysanthemum that is easy to grow. Prefers full sun, but it can tolerate partial shade. It does best in well-drained soil that is rich in organic matter.
Plant Dendranthema 'Sheffield Pink' in the spring or fall. Space the plants 18-24 inches apart. Water 'Sheffield Pink' regularly, especially during the first year after planting. Once the plant is established, it is more drought-tolerant.
Fertilize 'Sheffield Pink' in the spring with a balanced fertilizer. A light application of fertilizer every few months will help to promote new growth and flowering. Relatively pest and disease-free. However, it can be susceptible to powdery mildew.
Pinch tips of the stems in early summer to encourage bushier growth. Deadheading 'Sheffield Pink' will encourage new blooms. Simply remove the spent flowers from the plant.
With proper care, Dendranthema 'Sheffield Pink' will provide you with many years of beauty.
Other Details
The most important part of the plant is its root system. Healthy roots are the foundation of a healthy, vibrant plant. The type of plug container used is based on the specific needs of the plants. Perennials offered as bare root traditionally perform better when planted as bare root.Planted in a specialized mix, potted plants have well established root systems. Top growth stage will vary depending on the current life cycle and time of year when shipped. In Winter and early Spring dormant plants may be shipped. Dormant plants may be planted right away, even before the last frost date.
Most bare root varieties are field grown for at least one season, though Hemerocallis and Hosta are grown for two seasons. The bulk of the soil is removed during the harvesting process and the tops of most varieties are trimmed back to the crown. They are graded, packed in shredded aspen or sphagnum moss and stored in freezers until ready to be shipped.
See our Container Sizes and Bare Root Perennials pages for more information.
Plant information and care is provided in the Overview section, Plant Genus Page and general information is provided in the Planting Care & Guides. Additional questions can be asked on each Plant page.
Plant Spacing: Using the maximum mature spread or width of a plant to guide spacing, ensures space to grow to full size. To fill an area sooner, plant them closer together. Just remember, future thinning or transplanting may be needed.
Water: Keep a close eye on newly planted perennials, especially throughout the first growing year. Most early plant loss is due to too much or too little water!

Chrysanthemum Sheffield Pink
I was heartbroken when my yard guy weeded my garden and took out my the beloved Sheffield pinks I’d had for more than a decade. But I was delighted to find them at your nursery! I was concerned when the shipment arrived a month later than originally scheduled, but the plants were well packed and perked up. I planted them last weekend and think that the temperatures will remain warm enough for them to take root. These are my favorite flowering plants! I hope you’ll have more for my other gardens!
