Paint your garden with vibrant color with Dianthus 'Paint the Town Magenta'! This eye-catching perennial, part of the Proven Winners® series, is a showstopper for sunny borders and rock gardens, offering a profusion of radiant magenta blooms and attractive blue-green foliage.
- Vibrant Blooms: 'Paint the Town Magenta' lives up to its name with an abundance of single, vibrant magenta flowers with delicately fringed petals. These eye-catching blooms, reaching about 1.5 inches in diameter, appear in late spring to early summer, blanketing the plant in a carpet of color and releasing a spicy, clove-like fragrance.
- Evergreen Foliage: The narrow, blue-green leaves of 'Paint the Town Magenta' form a dense, mounding clump that adds texture and interest even when not in bloom. This evergreen foliage provides year-round beauty, especially in milder climates.
- Compact and Hardy: This Dianthus forms a compact mound, typically reaching 6-8 inches tall and spreading 12-14 inches wide. It is hardy and resilient, tolerating heat, humidity, and drought conditions, making it a reliable performer in a variety of climates.
- Versatile Applications: 'Paint the Town Magenta' is a versatile addition to any sunny garden. Use it to edge borders, add a pop of color to rock gardens, create a fragrant groundcover, or even plant it in containers. Its compact size and long blooming season make it a standout performer in any setting.
- Easy Care: This Dianthus is relatively low-maintenance, requiring minimal care once established. Deadheading spent blooms can encourage repeat flowering in the fall, and a light trim after blooming helps maintain its shape and vigor.

Other Details
The most important part of the plant is its root system. Healthy roots are the foundation of a healthy, vibrant plant. The type of plug container used is based on the specific needs of the plants. Perennials offered as bare root traditionally perform better when planted as bare root.Planted in a specialized mix, potted plants have well established root systems. Top growth stage will vary depending on the current life cycle and time of year when shipped. In Winter and early Spring dormant plants may be shipped. Dormant plants may be planted right away, even before the last frost date.
Most bare root varieties are field grown for at least one season, though Hemerocallis and Hosta are grown for two seasons. The bulk of the soil is removed during the harvesting process and the tops of most varieties are trimmed back to the crown. They are graded, packed in shredded aspen or sphagnum moss and stored in freezers until ready to be shipped.

Plant information and care is provided in the Overview section, Plant Genus Page and general information is provided in the Planting Care & Guides. Additional questions can be asked on each Plant page.
Plant Spacing: Using the maximum mature spread or width of a plant to guide spacing, ensures space to grow to full size. To fill an area sooner, plant them closer together. Just remember, future thinning or transplanting may be needed.
Water: Keep a close eye on newly planted perennials, especially throughout the first growing year. Most early plant loss is due to too much or too little water!
