Product Description
Dicentra 'King of Hearts'
Common Name: Bleeding Heart- Fern-leaved; Western Bleeding Heart.
Zones 5 to 9;
Full sun to full shade.
Mature size 8 to 10 inch height, spreads 12 inches. Herbaceous perennial.
Bright rose, heart-shaped flowers appear from late spring into fall, over lacy, soft blue-green foliage. Unlike the Old Fashioned Bleeding Heart, 'King of Hearts' will not go dormant in midsummer, as long as the soil is kept moist. Flowers may continue throughout the summer in northern zones. In southern zones flowers may slow or stop in summer heat, with a possible rebloom in late summer to early fall.
Though this species is sun tolerant, Dicentra is most at home in woodland settings.
