Product Description
Dicentra 'Luxuriant'
a/k/a Bleeding Heart- Fern-leaved; Western Bleeding Heart.
Zones 3 to 9;
Full sun to full shade.
Mature size 12 to 15 inch height, spreads 12 to 18 inches.
Cherry red, heart-shaped blooms dangle above spreading mounds of ferny, blue-green foliage. Dicentra 'Luxuriant' is everblooming, flowering most freely in spring and continuing throughout the summer and into fall. It also seems to tolerate more sun and summer heat than most other varieties. Unlike the Common Bleeding Heart, D. 'Luxuriant' will not go dormant in midsummer as long as the soil is kept moist.
Royal Horticultural Society's Award of Garden Merit 1993
Though this species is sun tolerant, Dicentra is most at home in woodland settings.
